In 2005, Dr. Ron Cridland established the Kelowna Sleep Clinic. This was the first publicly funded, private sleep lab in Western Canada. We have expanded to multiple locations through the Interior of BC including clinics in Penticton, Kelowna, Vernon, Salmon Arm and Kamloops. We are accredited with the College Of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. All the doctor visits and sleep studies are covered under the Medical Services Plan of BC. Patients must be referred by a physician. We receive referrals primarily from the Interior of BC but we do see patients from all over BC, Prairies, and Yukon. We provide comprehensive sleep disorder diagnostic and treatment services and are prepared to manage all of the more than 30 sleep disorders. We have a particular interest in the non-pharmacological management of Insomnia. In addition, through a subsidiary company, Good Sleep Health Inc, we also carry CPAP and a variety of other treatment options for Obstructive sleep apnea.
Dr. Cridland graduated from the University of Toronto medical school in 1982, and received his certification with the Canadian College of Family Physicians in 1984. After practicing health promotion for a number of years, he discovered that there were a number of patients living healthy lifestyles who were not feeling as well as they should for all the effort they were making. It turned out that sleep was the missing link. This prompted him to train in Sleep Disorders Medicine in Santa Rosa, California with neurologist, Dr. Jon Sassin. Later he trained with Psychiatrist, Dr. Adam Moscovitch at the Canadian Sleep Institute in Calgary, Alberta. He became certified with the American Board of Sleep Medicine in 1999. He established the Kelowna Sleep Clinic in 2005, the Nanaimo Sleep Clinic in 2007 and the Vernon Sleep Clinic in 2018. These publicly funded clinics and labs provide consultation and diagnostic services for the full spectrum of sleep disorders. Dr. Cridland has a particular interest in the non-pharmacologic management of insomnia.
